  • Pastor Prince R. Rivers (and his family) – As they transition to a new assignment in Durham at Union Baptist Church.
  • Pastor Prince R. Rivers – for his heartfelt and powerful message yesterday during the service of Gratitude and Blessing: An Epistle from Prince Raney Rivers to UMMBC. What a service!
  • Livingstone College W-S Alumni Chapter awarded three scholarships to students from W-S during Honors Convocation, and distributed exam (goody) bags to all students from W-S attending the school.
  • Men of Omega Psi Phi mentored young boys (4th & 5th grades) at North Hills Elementary school.
  • Vincia Benjamin Miller (Alumni Affairs) and Deborah Johnson (Institutional Advancement) – for their assistance with activities last week at Livingstone College.
  • UMMBC church member celebrating her 102 nd birthday tomorrow.
  • Robert Terrell Stephens – for his passion and work as co-organizer for  the upcoming HBCU Day of Action, April 27. I am proud of you young man!

  • Sam Branch – he is in Duke hospital with fluid in his legs.
  • Jamie Brendle – the daughter of a friend, as she seeks new opportunities.
  • The family of a 1-year old who was killed accidentally running into the street and another 5-year old who died from an accident recently.
  • Martha Foster (and her family) – on the loss of her husband, Vincent Foster, yesterday.
  • Walkertown Seafood waitress – she asked for prayer for her mother who has lung cancer.
  • Reginald McCaskill – missing a loved one.
  • Rev. Leroy Mitchell – as he continues to recover from a stroke.
  • Rock Hill AME Zion Church in Concord – the church and its members as they navigate a challenging season.
  • Level heads as the situation escalates with North Korea.
  • Marilyn White (my cousin) – who had emergency last week and is still hospitalized. She is making some improvement.
  • UMMBC Stephen Ministry requests – pray for our church as it transitions to new leadership, Tameka Johns, Margaret Johnson, Fred Marshall family, Caregivers/Care Receivers and Michael Belcher.

  • Pastor Prince R. Rivers (and his family) – Easter Sunrise Service yesterday. Sermon: The key to it all. The key to everything in life is the resurrection. Either you have a living hope or a dead faith.
  •  Session 2 of the Dale Carnegie course was inspiring.
  • W-S Alumni Chapter provided food for the Livingstone College Track team during the 2017 Aggie Invitational.
  • 8 current Livingstone College students from W-S who applied for a scholarship from the W-S Alumni Chapter.
  • Lunch with Micha and Michai James at Sweet Potatoes to sample the menu for the soon to be opened Miss Ora’s Kitchen.
  • Sweet Potatoes Kickstarter campaign has reached its goal for the new restaurant thanks to community support.

Please Pray:

  • Steve Martin (and his family) – he is out of ICU.
  • The family of Olivia Morgan – she transitioned yesterday afternoon after an illness.
  • Rev. Leroy Mitchell – as he continues to recover from a stroke.
  • Rock Hill AME Zion Church in Concord – the church and its members as they navigate a challenging season.
  • Level heads as the situation escalates with North Korea.
  • The family of the victim murdered on Facebook Live. Such a senseless act.
  • Marilyn White (my cousin) – who had emergency last week and is still hospitalized. She is making some improvement.

  • 83rd Annual “7 Last Words of Christ” by the Cathedral Choir at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church.
  •  Session 1 of the Dale Carnegie course was a success with 21 participants.
  • Dale Carnegie recertification completed and all trainers advanced.
  • Dale Carnegie Master Trainer, Steve Overton, for his exceptional leadership in guiding the group successfully during the 2-day recertification.
  • Powerful sermon (Palm Sunday) by guest preacher, Rev. K. Money Rice-Julloh, Wake Forest Divinity Associate Chaplain – When it is just too much. Matthew 19: 41-44.
  • This Holy Week.
  • The Livingstone College National Alumni Association spring conference in DC over the weekend.

  • Merikay Tillman – for inviting me to speak to the Triad Women’s Forum in High Point, NC.
  • Senator Paul Lowe – for nominating me for a seat on the UNC Board of Governor. I missed the cut, as six people were elected by the Senate and 4 were not.
  • Kenny Scalf – for making another donation to purchase books for students at Ephesus Jr. Academy.

  • Mrs. Dorothy Jordan (and her family) – Her husband, Mr. Jackie Jordan, passed yesterday.
  • Rock Hill AME Zion Church in Concord – the church and its members as they navigate this season.
  • Debra Hale (and family) – she recently lost her mother and a few days ago, a brother.
  • Andrea Allen (and her family) – she was the food service manager at Livingstone College with a big heart and kind spirit. She died unexpectedly a few weeks ago.
  • Evelyn McNeill (and family) – on the passing of James McNeill.
  • The family of Rev. Alvin Damon – as they mourn his passing.
  • All who were impacted by the avalanche in South America – more than 200 dead as they search for more people.
  • The 13 people who lost their lives due to a driver texting in Texas.
