  • My stepmother, Shirley, has been a trooper in taking care of my father and is much appreciated.

  • Attending the Twin City Kiwanis Club’s weekly luncheon to hear NCBRC’s new artistic director, Jackie Alexander, speak.
  • Lunch with Nathan Ross Freeman – great fellowship and catching up.
  • Attending a WS Dash ballgame with Michelle Cook and family.
  • A great message by Pastor Prince R. Rivers on yesterday. Sermon Series: Living Victoriously. Sermon: Dress to Win. Ephesians 6: 10-11.
  • Being moved by the Spirit in worship service yesterday by song and sermon. The tears flowed. My cup runneth over.

Please Pray:

  • Continued prayers for the family of Steven Stewart, age 32, who died recently.
  • Pray for the two nuns murdered in Mississippi and the murderer. May GOD bless him and the souls of the nuns.
  • Eldridge Alston (my father) – in Oak Forest rehab facility. He has some swelling and is on medication to help and having difficulty breathing today (receiving oxygen now). He says he feels better and has a good cup of coffee.
  • The family of a young teacher (he was to start today as a social studies teacher) – his body was found floating in a local lake . He had done his practice teaching at the school last year and just recently graduated from WSSU. He was 23 years old.
  • Minister Curvy Buford and his family – He lost his son in a car accident on last Sunday in San Diego, CA. He was in the Navy
  • Jean Allison – She was in bad accident two-three weeks ago. In rehab now.
  • Sand Lomax – recently had surgery and is now at home.
  • D’Walla Simmons Burke – get better.
  • Joe and Carol Crocker (and family) – on the loss of her mother.
  • Sarah (my wife) – MRI follow up to determine options.
  • People impacted in LA during the rain and flooding.
  • Victims  and their families in Italy impacted by the earthquake.

  • Outstanding Olympic Games – congrats to all the athletes, especially the USA.
  • A message on Facebook that prompted this column.
  • A man I met last year at the rehabilitation facility that I saw yesterday while visiting my father. He said he is going home in two weeks.
  • My stepmother, Shirley has been a trooper in taking care of my father and is appreciated.

Please Pray:

  • The family of Steven Stewart, age 32 (a church member) – he had been on the prayer list. He was hit by an impaired driver with a revoked license and hospitalized. He initially had his foot amputated, then his leg above the knee. He died last week. Reported from an aneurism.
  • Jean Allison – She was in bad accident two-three weeks ago. In rehab now.
  • Randon Pender (and family) – on the loss her husband (Tommy), a former co-worker.
  • George Curry (I met him through Nat Irvin years ago) – a journalist, died recently.
  • Sand Lomax – recently had surgery and is now at home.
  • Angela Banks – her mother is in a rehabilitation facility (same on as my father) and her father (who visited my father last week) is hospitalized with an aneurism.
  • The family of Mia Anthony – she lost her life in a car accident.

  • Prayers for a friend who is undergoing treatment for lung cancer (she is feeling better).
  • Jerry Jessup (and his family) – his brother (Robert Jessup) died last Thursday.
  • Derek Hicks (and family) – on the loss of his mother.
  • Peace. Healing. Dialogue. Respect for each other.
  • Beth Day Hairston (and family) – her mother was in Hospice care. She died last week after the prayer request was shared.
  • Steven Stewart (a church member) was in an accident on the way to church last week.   He was struck by a car last Sunday morning while waiting for the city bus on his way to our church. He is devastated and sad because his foot was amputated (he has since had his leg amputated above the knee). He also has a broken arm and has had additional surgery. This article sheds light on what happened when his life was interrupted. He is down but holding on and lives prayer, so keep him lifted up.
