  • James Jordan – having surgery today.
  • Curtis Little – for his recovery from a stroke last week.
  • Ward Miller – asks for prayer for a friend who has terminal cancer and has been moved to Hospice.
  • Lisa Venable – for her brother, Stephen Ashley (48), his wife Olivia and their son Ben. Stephen has been diagnosed with cancer in his bile duct, liver, pancreas and esophagus.
  • Marquie Smith (a former WSSU colleague) – recently hospitalized (stroke) and now in Whitaker for rehab. Continued prayers for her.
  • Chris Cropps – for her sister (Pat Johnson), who has been ill and is now at home recovering.
  • Pray for a friend who is undergoing treatment for lung cancer.
  • Dr. Erby Oglesby – continuing to recuperate from surgery.

  • Co-facilitated LWS Human Relations Day  with Sharee Fowler – it was a good day and positive experience.
  • Family and Friends Day at St. James AME Church (my home church) – good to see so many familiar faces.
  • Retirement party for Mabel Robinson (NC Black Rep’s Artistic Director) – a great evening with family, friends and cast members.
  • WSSU Bond. Score. Win. Raising Dollars for Scholars event – a great event raising money for male athletes with speaker Stephen A. Smith.
  • NC Black Rep MLK Celebration – great participation, attendance and support for the Second Harvest Food Bank.
  • Meeting with a group of community leaders with an interest in making a difference for children in the community.
  • A challenge from Byron Williams to find the authentic MLK on this special day we celebrate.
  • UMMBC Stephen Ministry and the support provided those in need, and grieving.
  • The many events and activities today to celebrate the life of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

  • Ward Miller – asks for prayer for a friend who has terminal cancer and has been moved to Hospice.
  • Candice Benbow – as she continues to move forward after losing her mother.
  • Lisa Venable – for her brother, Stephen Ashley (48), his wife Olivia and their son Ben! Stephen has been diagnosed with cancer in his bile duct, liver, pancreas and esophagus.
  • Wil Jones – for his wife Gwen Jones who is having surgery.
  • The family of Shirley Thomas (a church member) who passed this past week of an apparent heart attack. She lost her husband last year. Her service is Wednesday..

  • A young man (age 26) I met last week, who said he was incarcerated (twice), is married with two children wants help (counseling or mentoring).
  • Chris Cropps – for her sister (Pat Johnson), who has been ill and is now at home recovering.
  • Pray for a friend who is undergoing treatment for lung cancer.
  • Dr. Erby Oglesby – continuing to recuperate from surgery.

  • Dietrich Spencer (a former WSSU colleague) and her family- her father, Weldon Scott Thomas, died on Wednesday. He was 93 years young, she said. A great husband, father and lover of God.
  • A young man (age 26) I met last week, who said he was incarcerated (twice), is married with two children wants help (counseling or mentoring).
  • The family of Ava Smith Peques (and her family) – Ava died Thursday morning after a fight with cancer. She was my administrative assistant during my interim stint with DSS. She had a great spirit and faith. I will remember both. Her service is today.
  • Chris Cropps – for her sister (Pat Johnson), who has been ill and is now at home recovering.
  • Pray for a friend who is undergoing treatment for lung cancer.
  • Dr. Erby Oglesby – recuperating from recent surgery.

  • Pastor Prince Rivers – Watch Night Service was powerful. Sermon: Out with the old, in with the new. If you want to go in a new direction, you need to change the message on your mind.
  • Pastor Prince Rivers – new sermon series 2016: A Blueprint for a Blessed New Year. Sermon yesterday: You can handle this. We have to know who God is before we can understand what God can do.
  • Michelle Cook and her family – we appreciate the hospitality and fellowship.
  • Claudette Weston – for her thoughtfulness, and annual cheese ball and rum cake.
  • Robert and Terry Scott (and those who help them) – thank for all you do to make the annul bus trip to Atlanta enjoyable. We appreciate you.
  • Spending time with family during Christmas – the food, fellowship, laughter and good times.

  • Mabel Robinson – artistic director for the NC Black Repertory Company on an outstanding career. She officially retired on 12/31.

  • A young man I met after speaking (Kwanzaa) last week, who said he was incarcerated, is married with two children and asked for help (counseling or mentoring).
  • Chris Cropps – for her sister (Pat Johnson), who has been ill and is now at home recovering.

  • Please pray for a full and complete healing for Lisa Faulk as she had an out patient procedure last week.

  • Carol Crocker – her father Newman Vaughan was admitted to the hospital in Cardiac ICU.
  • Brenda Hampton (and family) – she lost her father, Harvey Parker of Burlington.
  • The family of Lagretta Keaton (and her sister) – she died last week. Here sister has had a difficult time caring for Lagretta and her mother who is about 102 (and now has pneumonia).
