  • Kel – who is in Jordan helping refugees.

  • NCBRC staff working on Saturday preparing for Black Nativity.

  • Praying for strength for a friend who is experiencing a serious health issue.
  • Wayne Ledbetter – he is having eye surgery today. Please pray.
  • Pray for another friend who is undergoing chemo and radiation for lung cancer.
  • The families who lost loved ones in the shooting in Colorado.
  • Dr. Erby Oglesby – recovering from recent surgery.
  • Rick Pierce – Please pray for a sweet 5 year old (Maci Minton) who lives in Millers Creek, NC and has a rare form of leukemia for children.
  • Continue to pray for Louis Smith and his wife Vanessa – There oldest son, Dwayne Smith, was buried the day before Thanksgiving.
  • Those impacted by the international acts of violence and fear.

Give Thanks For (Praise Reports):

  • The life of Bernice Davenport – her memorial service was Saturday. She was an encourager, a supporter and always called around Easter to tell me to send my money in for an ad in the church program. She invited me to speak often at her church bible study and would frequently give me positive feedback on my columns. I would laugh when she told me I should be in the NY Times. RIP Mrs. Davenport.
  • Hanging out with the students at Ephesus Jr. Academy and being invited to have Thanksgiving lunch with them.
  • Bill Cook – celebrating a birthday.
  • Leading a group of teaching scholars (in a masters degree program) at UNCG in their monthly Dale Carnegie session.
  • Livingstone College W-S Alumni chapter – a great group of engaged alums making a difference.
  • Working with Sharee Fowler to co-facilate LWS Human Relations Day.
  • Graduated the Bojangles leadership team from the Dale Carnegie 3-day Immersion Seminar (Strictly Business).
  • Meeting with Carmen Wilder and colleagues at Hood Seminary to discuss social media opportunities.
  • Met with youth volunteers for the NCBRC production of Black Nativity.

  • Rick Pierce – Please pray for a sweet 5 year old (Maci Minton) who lives in Millers Creek, NC  and has a rare form of leukemia for children.
  • Louis Smith (his wife Vanessa and sons) – His son, Dwayne Smith, passed on Saturday. Please pray for them, his wife, Angela and their 9 month old baby, Maverick. His brothers, Brenton and Broderick and their wives, McCall and Lauren.
  • Phelicia Price (daughter of a college classmate) – kidney function status changed from stage 4 to stage 5. My function is right around 5%. Surgery planned for November 23rd (today) to begin the dialysis process.
  • Candice Marie Benbow (and her family) – her mother, Debra Benbow, died unexpectedly. Her service was Saturday.
  • Those impacted by the international acts of violence and fear.
  • For all in domestic violence, abuse situations – that they might get help, and have the courage to leave the situation (abuser).
  • Kel – for safe travels as he heads to Jordan to assist churches and refugees (Syrian and Iraqi).

  • UMMBC Bible Study (celebrating Men’s Day) – a great discussion led by Dr. Derek Hicks, School of Divinity (WFU)
  • Attended A Taste of the South (Authoring Action) event – a great evening supporting youth giving voice to their thoughts.
  • NewBridge Bank Advisory Board meeting.
  • Men’s Day at UMMBC with Rev. Brewster (Asheville) – sermon: If Judas Had Waited.
  • Angie Burleyson completing her first tandem assignment training – graduated CCAC Dale Carnegie class.
  • Ira Richard (and his family) – he was able to attend church on Sunday.
  • Kel – arrived safely in Bethlehem.
  • To my WSSU friends – they won the CIAA football championship on Saturday over Bowie.
  • Lunch with Theo Chunn – working toward his PhD and his speaking career.

Please Pray:

  • Praying for strength for a friend who is experiencing a serious health issue.
  • Louis Smith (his wife Vanessa and their sons) – last week they had a son to get married. Now, they are facing a losing battle with cancer for their oldest son.
  • Phelicia Price (daughter of a college classmate) – kidney function status changed from stage 4 to stage 5. My function is right around 5%. Surgery planned for November 23rd to begin the dialysis process.
  • Candice Marie Benbow (and her family) – her mother, Debra Benbow, died unexpectedly on Saturday.
  • Paris – acts of terrorism and loss of life.
  • The Belcher family (and the three sons left behind) – the mother was killed by her husband who committed suicide. She was buried last week and his services are today.

  • Tony Hines – discharged from the hospital and on the mend.

  • A student at Main Street Academy (an alternative school) who is experiencing life challenges and needs prayer.
  • Peyton Hairston, Jr. – who has been battling cancer.
  • Ira Richard (and his family) – he is presently in the hospital.
  • Successful UMMBC Men’s Week activities this week – bible study, reading to elementary school students, dinner recognizing men, Sunday School and worship service).
  • Billy Booker – having surgery this week and asks for prayer.
  • Louis Smith (his wife Vanessa and their sons) – last week they had a son to get married. Now, they are facing a losing battle with cancer for their oldest son. He has been on the prayer list.
  • Phelicia Price (daughter of a college classmate) – she has been on the prayer list before. Here is an update on her status: “This email is to serve as an update on my progress regarding my kidney function. As of my last appointment my doctor changed my status from stage 4 to stage 5. My function is right around 5%. For this reason I will have surgery on November 23rd to begin the dialysis process. A PD catheter will be inserted in my abdomen allowing me to conduct my treatments from home each night.”
  • Kel – on his return (safely) to Bethlehem, Jordon and eventually to England. He asks for prayers as he departs and prayers for Peace.
