  • Lynn Brooks – I so appreciate the prayers of our electronic church prayer partners, and ask once again for prayers for my dad and our family.
  • Fil Anderson – “Last Friday September 26, my dad, William Filmore (Flo) Anderson, passed peacefully from this world into his eternal home in heaven.
    Dad & Mom were married for 68 years. Please pray, especially for my mom, and our entire family as we celebrate his life on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in Wilmington, NC.”
  • Claudette Weston –  “Would you please have these folks in your prayers..Yvonne and Jeff Rickabaugh. Their son Alex passed away this week end…He was a sophomore at Duke University..Pratt School of Engineering. Yvonne is a longtime friend.”
  • Brenda Diggs – “The Crouch family is going to need prayer. My nephew, Corey Crouch’s (age 28) funeral will be on Tuesday morning and those of us who know God really need to pray. Please keep Brenda, her brother and family in prayer.”
  • Cornelious Flood (Stephen Ministry at UMMBC) – Martha Brimmage, Al Andrews, Jessica Smith, Tim Key, Ron Reid, Marco, Juanita Penn, Jaime Ledbetter, Iris Brandon, Otis Sellers, Alexander family, Stephen Ministry, DivorceCare participants, Peyton Hairston jr., and Pastor Rivers..
  • Robert Scott – for his mother who is recovering from a stroke and making progress.
  • Gregory Hairston (and family) – Greg lost his father earlier this year and his brother is now fighting an aggressive form of cancer. Keep them in prayer.
  • Dr. James Jones – continue to pray for him, his health and comfort from losing his wife a week ago.
  • Continued international cooperation to address the ebola crisis and provide help for all impacted.
  • Continue to remember the girls in Nigeria who remain hostages, and their families.

  • For my sister, Gloria – she would be 59 years-old today. RIP in peace sister. I miss you, your unique personality and the gifts you shared while you were with us physically.

  • Fil Anderson – “The family & friends of John Krahm, my soul mate and friend, who died suddenly at his home in West Stockbridge, MA.
    My mom & dad, my siblings & I as we confront the difficult reality of my dad’s declining health.
  • Al Andrews – “My Dad’s name is John M. Andrews. He had open heart surgery and had to have a follow up cardiac procedure. He got through it but is in serious condition here at the VA Hospital in Durham (He’s a WWII Vet). Please keep him in your prayers.”
  • Gregory Hairston (and family) – Greg lost his father earlier this year and his brother is now fighting an aggressive form of cancer. Keep them in prayer.
  • Rick Pierce: Nigel, Charlie Dorton, needs prayers from your community of friends. Would you please ask your community to pray for Charlie to find new strength, energy and encouragement to turn the corner.
  • Dr. James Jones – continue to pray for him, his health and comfort from losing his wife a week ago.

She read my column  this week and liked what Pastor Rivers preached about and wanted to know if she would be welcomed at our church (YES). She is a Moravian but wants to hear him preach a sermon. I am looking forward to her attending one Sunday.

  • Lynn Brooks: “Nigel, my dad just learned this week that he has “a couple of cancer spots” in his lungs, which means the cancer in his bladder, which until now has been contained, has moved. As always, I so appreciate the prayers of our electronic church prayer partners, and ask once again for prayers for my dad and our family. We have been so blessed to have him. God is good.”
  • Rick Pierce: “Nigel, an old friend and an agent of NGIC in Danville, VA… Charlie Dorton, needs prayers from your community of friends. Charlie has successfully undergone cancer surgery, but he is not getting enough nutrition and is getting progressively weaker. Would you please ask your community to pray for Charlie to find new strength, energy and encouragement to turn the corner. Thanks, Rick Pierce.”
  • Dr. James Jones – on the death of his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Jones whose service was on Saturday.

  • My niece Alana Alston (for the short life she lived) – yesterday would have been her 23rd birthday. We celebrated with a meal in her honor and memory.
  • Lisa Faulk – on being commissioned as a Stephen Leader at UMMBC yesterday.

  • Monica Friday (for her grandmother) – “PLEASE add my grandmother to the prayer list. Her name is Mrs. Tula Mae Friday. She turned 85 on August 5th. She has hospitalized with double pneumonia, low blood pressure and her kidneys are failing.”
  • Ed Hanes, Jr. (for his father, Ed Hanes, Sr.) – who died last week. “The memorial service for our father, Edward F. Hanes Sr., will take place at First Baptist Church of Highland Avenue on Friday, September 5th at 12:00 Noon. The family visitation will begin at 10:30AM to be followed immediately by the memorial service.”
